About Dre Melissa
Melissa Choucroun, DVM
From a young age, Dr. Melissa knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. Although originally from Montreal, she completed both the Pre-Veterinary program and obtained her degree in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Prince Edward Island.
Dr. Melissa then moved to California, where she further developed her diagnostic and technical skills at a busy referral and emergency practice. Seeking ethical solutions for surgical patients, Dr. Melissa traveled to the United Kingdom to complete a surgical internship under Professor Noel Fitzpatrick. During her time abroad, Dr. Melissa began research into developmental orthopedic disorders, with the hope of reducing the prevalence of elbow disease in our canine friends.
Since returning home, in addition to working with a mobile veterinary service, supporting local DMV hospitals’ emergency departments, and providing surgical services to several veterinary clinics in the greater Montreal area, Dr. Melissa continues to advance her research in the pursuit of a surgical specialty certification.
